Nantong Port Group Co., Ltd., located in Nantong City, Jiangsu Province, facing the Yellow Sea on the East and the Yangtze River on the South, is the nearest sea port of the North of Yangtze River. It’s organized from former Nantong Port Bureau by separating the governmental functions from enterprise management in 2002. In 2005, PYI Corporation, Nantong State-owned Assets Investment Holdings Co., Ltd., and State Development & Investment Corp. jointly contributed RMB 960 million for assets reorganization and the establishment of large-scale Sino-foreign joint venture enterprise - Nantong Port Group Co., Ltd. The Group Company owns 5 branch companies, 3 subsidiaries, 10 share holding and participation companies, and a 4155m-long bank line of Yangtze River; 23 above thousand-ton volume public production berths in which 13 above ten-thousand-ton volume berths with maximum berthing capacity of 150000 tons; 570000m² stockyard and 45000m² warehouse. The Group Company is mainly engaged in port construction and operation, cargo handling and stockpiling, passenger & freight forwarder, towage service at loading port, and trip repair, etc.

 

With Nantong Port Group Co., Ltd. as the core, Nantong Port is a Class-I national open port, national major pivot port, and main member of Combined Port of Shanghai International Shipping Center. With the approval of opening to foreign vessels in 1982, Nantong Port is now open to navigation with 312 ports of 75 countries and regions in the world. Seas and rivers join at Nantong Port, which makes it an ideal resource transfer place. Nantong Port links up with Tong-Lv Canal, Tong-Yang Canal and Jing-Hang Grand Canal in waterway, and 204 National Highway, 318 National Highway and Ning-Tong Highway in land way. The under-construction Su-Tong Bridge and railways in port area under construction will further improve the inland transport capacity of Nantong Port. With the new round of development and construction of Nantong Port with a history of  one hundred years, especially the put-into-production of two 150,000-ton deep-water berths of Langshan Port Area Phase III and Tongzhou Port Area Expansion Project Phase II in succession, the throughput capaciity is extremely improved, which further meets the efficient, high-quality and convenient service requirements of clients, and also guarantees the realization of goal for Nantong Port to become a 100 million-ton volume large port in 2006 and realize 200 million annual throughput in 2010.
